D.I.Y Data recovery software.
Although, sending your storage, or memory device to Memory Ferret offers the best solution to recovering important files and data, there are times, when the data is not so critical, that you may wish to attempt it yourself!
There are many software packages available that allow you to do just that, however, they must be used with caution when dealing with very important data.
The first thing to do, in all cases, is stop using your storage device, as soon as you notice, the deleted files, corruption, or mistake you have made. This will give you the best chance of recovering more of the lost data.
Next, download the data recovery software and inspect the drive, if the drive is functioning OK, the software should provide you with a list of files that it is able to recover. Then, simply resore these files to a new location and then test them, in some cases, not all the recovered files will be working, but you should be able to save save quite a few!
If you cannot recover the data from your device, or the device has a physical fault, do not try some of the "crazy methods" we have seen lurking on the internet, such as sticking your drive into a freezer, they simply do not work and make matters a LOT worse!

Accidental deletion is one of the biggest occurences of USB drives and camera cards, while PC's suffer corruption and virus attacks, more often than not.
Physical failures can be a BIG problem, as people tend to rely on the storage drives too much, keeping important files on it and not taking notice of the importance of a back up! Remember, all storage devices, USB drives, memory cards, can suffer physical failure! Making a back up of your files to another storage medium is essential practice, that could save you from a lot of stress later on! As they say, "don't keep all your eggs in one basket"!
